　　1、spend用作名詞(n.)

　　例句：

　　The average spend on higher education was 55 pounds per head.

　　用於高等教育的平均支出是每人55英鎊。

　　The new law will put a lid on government spend.

　　新法律將限制政府開支。

　　2、spend用作動詞(v.)

　　例句：

　　The time I spend in commuting every day adds up to three hours.

　　我每天上下班乘車花費的'時間加起來有3個小時。

　　You really shouldn't spend so much effort on it.

　　你真不該在這件事上花費這麼大的精力。

　　spend的三種用法

　　1、在使用spend時,主語只能是表示人的名詞或代詞。

　　例句:

　　Andy spent a lot of money on books. Andy花了很多錢買書。

　　2、若表示"在......上花費(時間、金錢等)",常用句型spend some money/ some time on sth.,介詞on後接名詞或代詞。

　　例句:

　　Kitty spends two hours on her homework every day. Kitty每天花兩個小時做家庭作業。

　　3、若表示"花費(時間、金錢等)做某事",則常用句型spend some money / some time (in) doing sth.,此時第二個動詞要用動詞-ing形式,介詞in可以省略。

　　例句:

　　They spent 4450 yuan buying the big colour TV set. 他們買那臺大彩電花了4450元。

　　另外,spend也有"度過"的意思。

　　例句:

　　They want to spend their summer holiday in the country.他們想去鄉下過暑假。
