At first, you must understand the meaning of climate change. It means any long-term significant change in the average weather, which may include average temperature, precipitation, wind patterns and so on. For example, Australia is experiencing rapid climate change. Since the middle of the twentieth century, Australian temperatures have risen by about average one temperature degree with an increase in the frequency of heat waves and a decrease in the numbers of frosts and cold days. Rainfall patterns have also changed, which means that the northwest has seen an increase in rainfall over the last fifty years while much of eastern Australia and the far southwest have experienced a decline. From this example, it indicates climate change that is occurring today has sped up, and affects long-term weather. The Earth’s climate is largely affected by how much heat is stored in the atmosphere. Furthermore, the climate change is caused by dynamic process on Earth, external forces including variations in sunlight intensity, and more recently by human activities.

The most important reason of climate change is caused by humans, because humans produce a lot of carbon dioxide into the air. This carbon dioxide emits from fossil fuel, aerosols, cement manufacture, land use, animal agriculture and deforestation. For example, trees can take in carbon dioxide to produce oxygen by photosynthesis. If people cut many trees for making furniture, paper, or sell wood to make money, there is much more carbon dioxide in the air. Beginning with the industrial revolution in the nineteenth century and accelerating ever since, the human consumption of fossil fuels has raised carbon dioxide levels rapidly. It means that carbon dioxide levels are substantially higher now than before. On the other hand, during the procedure of manufacturing cement, which is used in buildings, significantly more carbon dioxide is produced. While people improve their living standard, they cause climate change. When people burn coal, oil, and gas for our electricity, carbon dioxide is produced. When people burn fossil fuel to move vehicles, carbon dioxide is also produced. These sorts of examples indicate that humans are the real culprit. They do not consider the consequence, while they enjoy producing every thing they want.

It is not just man-made pollution of the atmosphere which can cause climate change. Changes in the amount of carbon dioxide in the air have occurred naturally during the history of the Earth, leading to climate changes. When a volcano erupts, it releases huge amounts of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere. However, volcano eruptions cannot effect climate change. The main reason is that before the volcano erupts, it would release huge amount of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide for a very long time. This pollution injected into the air blocks out a lot of sunlight. Therefore, it can cause the Earth to cool over fewer years. For example, in April 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatoba, where is in the Philippine islands, emitted huge amounts of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide into the air. The movement of the Earth’s axis also affects climate change; it moves a little more than a half-degree each century. Other processes can change the Earth’s climate over millions of years. When not only continents move around the world, but also mountains ranges are built, the changing patterns of landmasses affect the way the heat in the atmosphere and in the oceans is stored. In addition, changes in the way ocean water circulates around the world can affect the climate, because the oceans store even more heat than the atmosphere. Once ocean currents change direction, slow down, or reverse, it has a significant impact on climate.

Climate change is mainly caused by carbon dioxide. This can be separated to two important parts: natural causes, and human causes. After we realise what the two important factors of climate change are, and what the climate change is, we could try to think of a more effective solution to solve the climate change problem to make a higher quality environment.

  The Mirror and I

I like to look into the mirror. I remember when I was a little girl, I often stood on my toes, trying to find my face in the mirror of the dressing table, which was nearly as high as I was. Now I still like to look into the mirror. Only now, the dressing table is too low for me. As I bend down, I see the face of a young woman, glowing with maturity, confident in her future and fascinated with her own reflection.

The fact that I like to look into the mirror has to do with my granny with whom I spent most of my childhood. I remember clearly that one night I heard her murmuring, "Women can't be seen. Women can't be seen." I was so confused as to look into the mirror the next morning to check if I could indeed see myself. Only now as a young woman myself, can I understand that it was not physical visibility that granny had on her mind.

Granny spent all her life taking care of the family, day in and day out. She cooked for her husband and 10 children. But whenever guests came, she and other female family members had to eat by the stove in the small kitchen. At family discussions, she was never asked for her opinion. After grandpa passed away, she had to listen to my uncle, her eldest son, fulfilled her duty as daughter, wife, and mother; yet as a person, she remained little noticed. Even though she could see herself in the mirror of the dressing table, she was never visible in the mirror of society.

I have been living a different life. At home, I make decisions together with the rest of the family. In school, I often take charge of various activities the same as other boys and girls. Not only that, I can see something granny could not have dreamed of─making decisions for my own future. My life has been a series of decisions. I could choose from several universities as I came out of high school. At university, I could choose from a range of subjects from English literature to business law. And now upon graduation, I am again faced with decisions─to further my study or to go to work; to stay in China or to go abroad; to get married right away or to remain single for a bit longer.

It does not matter whether or not I will become famous or rich, but I will treasure the chance to demonstrate my potential and to help other women demonstrate theirs as full members of society, fully visible in the mirror of history. I will treasure it because the abundance of choice that I enjoy came only after decades of efforts made by my granny, my mum, and millions of other Chinese women.

However, the choices to be made by me and others of my generation are a great challenge. The misconception that men are superior to women is still dominating many people's minds. While men are encouraged to compete and to assert themselves, we are expected to be quiet, loyal and obedient. This is not very different from what is expected of us as good wives and good mothers. The challenge we face calls for a higher level of our personal development and self-determination.

The story of my grandmother and myself mirrors the lives of millions of other women in China and perhaps in the world. Many of them still lead the life of my grandmother. Their worth is not yet recognized. It is the responsibility of a young person like me to work hard and struggle hard so that they too will see themselves and will be seen in the mirror of society.

This is my dream. This dream, I believe, is not only shared by our grandmothers, mothers and sisters, but also by many of our fathers, brothers, husbands and male colleagues.

It will not come true until everyone fully realizes that women can contribute to society and should be guaranteed the right to do so. Women hold up half the sky.

Every one of us, rich or poor, should at least have one or two good friends. My friends will listen to me when I want to speak, will wipe my eyes when I cry, will take care of me when I am sick, and my friends will go together with me side by side through this journey of life.

As students, we could share more time with our friends. The friendship in our young hearts is pure, fresh and simple. I often feel very lucky to have a lot of good friends. Especially when I had Justin as one of my best friends. Justin was my English teacher from the USA. I met him in 1996 when I was a student who could only speak very little English. Justin was a vivid young man with a bright smile on his face, and he always had his special way to make the class active and attractive. He taught us English by telling stories, playing games, singing songs, and even dancing. I could still remember very clearly that one afternoon when we fin-ished our class, we went to some other classes to sing songs for them, just like what people do in the states on Christmas Eve. It was so interesting and unforgettable. Justin was an excellent teacher, because he taught us not only how to studyEnglish well, but also the way to find out the beauty of the world and the way to be angels to others' lives. I know there was friend

ship and pure love in our hearts. Facing this valuable emotion neither nationality nor age was important, the real importance lay in faith, under-standing, and care. Justin is the best friend I have ever had, and I know I will cherish those days of staying together with him as the best part of my memory.

Friendship is a kind of treasure in our lives. It is actually like a bottle of wine, the longer it is kept, the sweeter it will be. It is also like a cup of tea. When we are thirsty, it will be our best choice, but when we have enough time to enjoy ourselves, it is also the most fragrant drink.

However, in this fast-developing modern society, the reality is not that. More and more people forget to enjoy the beauty of life and -the beauty of friendship. They work hard in order to gain a higher position, in the society and to earn more money for their work. Of course, we don't deny that it is important to find a bet-ter place in our lives, but we wish more and more people could pay a little more attention to themselves and their friends. All of us have to spare some time for personal lives. We have to find the chance to express our emotion and love. When staying with our friends, we can release ourselves completely. We can do whatever we want, we can laugh together, talk together, and even cry to-gether. I should say that being together with our best friends is the most wonderful moment of our lives.

As we know, we would feel lonely if we didn't even have a friend. But it doesn't mean we could depend on our friends all the time. There is a famous motto saying that “A friend is like a quilt with cotton wadding, but the real thing that keeps you warm is your own temperature.” It is really true. We have to work hard together with our friends, encourage each other and help each other. When we receive love and friendship, we should repay as much as we can.

Finally, let's pray together now that one day, all of us could find the person we want to find, and could enjoy a real beautiful friendship in our lives. Let's pray the flower of friendship be-tween our friends and us would always bloom brightly in our hearts.

For interpersonal relationships, I gradually summed up one of the most in line with the principle of my nature, that is, mutual respect and affinity. I believe that all good friendship is formed naturally and not deliberately obtained. I also think that no matter how good of friends should have a distance, the friendship is too often crowded empty.

Get along with others, especially if you are relaxed, in a relaxed and feel of the real lessons learned, I bet you, you must have encountered the same, even if you are engaged in different occupations.

Philosophers, poets, musicians, artists have their own jargon. Sometimes, the different meaning of the same jargon said. Sometimes, speaking with a different meaning of jargon.

but can not climb the hills, the gap between the soul of it is insurmountable. Peer jargon we say, spit out the voice of a friend.

Among the most profound distinction is not professional, and in the soul.

Professor of Communication to see the bookstore to sell the success of surgery patients like best-selling book, I feel funny. A person has a good impression on a person, and he or she paid a friend, or interested in something, try to do it successfully, it would have been natural. Do not memorize the main points on the cross can not be friends, do not beg for tips on the do not spiritual cause, we can see how the lack of real emotion really interested. However, there is no real emotion, how it will be true friends? Not really interested in, how will it really cause? That being the case, why should diligently and success in communication? That of course there are obvious utilitarian motives, but it is quite apparent deeper reason is that spiritual emptiness, then hid shortcut to the crowd and affairs. I do not know how, only know that if this kind of communication at home, I approached him, I will definitely be more lonely, if such a successful stand in front of me, I will definitely be even more boring.

Study, such as making friends, but at least one exception is the time to teach the kind of book arts friends.

Personals surgery hing real friends perish.

Friendship is tolerance. For this reason, a friend once enemies, it is often irreversible, the differences that they must be very serious, and has reached the point where can not be condoned.

Only between good friends can be such a thing occurred in Dear John, in the past between the more difficult, more difficult to repair the cracks now, and seems to maintain an acquaintance too unnatural. As for those who have only acquaintance, handed over the case of non-payment of the two may be, it is not a Dear John.Extraversion personality people easy access to many of my friends, but always a few true friends. Introversion are lonely, once friends, often is true.

number one: stop the madness for constant group work. just stop it. (laughter) thank you. (applause) and i want to be clear about what i'm saying, because i deeply believe our offices should be encouraging casual, chatty cafe-style types of interactions -- you know, the kind where people come together and serendipitously have an exchange of ideas. that is great. it's great for introverts and it's great for extroverts. but we need much more privacy and much more freedom and much more autonomy at work. school, same thing. we need to be teaching kids to work together, for sure, but we also need to be teaching them how to work on their own. this is especially important for extroverted children too. they need to work on their own because that is where deep thought comes from in part.

okay, number two: go to the wilderness. be like buddha, have your own revelations. i'm not saying that we all have to now go off and build our own cabins in the woods and never talk to each other again, but i am saying that we could all stand to unplug and get inside our own heads a little more often.

number three: take a good look at what's inside your own suitcase and why you put it there. so extroverts, maybe your suitcases are also full of books. or maybe they're full of champagne glasses or skydiving equipment. whatever it is, i hope you take these things out every chance you get and grace us with your energy and your joy. but introverts, you being you, you probably have the impulse to guard very carefully what's inside your own suitcase. and that's okay. but occasionally, just occasionally, i hope you will open up your suitcases for other people to see, because the world needs you and it needs the things you carry.

so i wish you the best of all possible journeys and the courage to speak softly.

  thank you very much.

  (applause)

  thank you. thank you.

But in retrospect, the destruction of my self was so repetitive that I started to see a pattern. The self changed, got affected, broken, destroyed, but another one would evolve -- sometimes stronger, sometimes hateful, sometimes not wanting to be there at all.The self was not constant. And how many times would my self have to die before I realized that it was never alive in the first place?I grew up on the coast of England in the '70s. My dad is white from Cornwall, and my mom is black from Zimbabwe. Even the idea of us as a family was challenging to most people. But nature had its wicked way, and brown babies were born. But from about the age of five, I was aware that I didn't fit. I was the black atheist kid in the all-white Catholic school run by nuns.I was an anomaly, and my self was rooting around for definition and trying to plug in. Because the self likes to fit, to see itself replicated, to belong. That confirms its existence and its importance. And it is important.

Hello everyone. Today, I’d like to talk about“How to improve ourEnglish”. To be honest, I’m really happy to stand here and saysomething about learning English, even if I’m> As everybody knows. English is an intern- ational language. What’s more China has ente- red the WTO. Therefore it’s necessaryfor us to learn it.But“how can I improve my English” you may ask.Well, I have some useful tips that I’d like to share withyou.

Firstly, make sure that you pay enough atte- ntion to yourpronunciation and intonation. Otherwise, you might make yourself alaughing stock. For example,“Can I use your bike?”you say,“Can Iuse your back?”“Pass me the case, please”.you say,“pass me thekiss, please” Obviously, here you mispronounced the two words“bike”and “case”.That will certainly cause misunderstanding.Besides, tones of different voice can also mean difference. Forinstance,“London bridge is falling down, fall- ing down, my fairLady”,“London bridge is falling down!”you are excited, again“Londonbridge is falling down, falling down, my fair Lady”,“London bridgeis falling down”you are so sad, right?

Secondly, practice makes perfect. Don’t be afraid to makemistakes when you practise speaking English.> Finally, in order to improve our English, we need to be patient ,Anyway, learning English takes time, so you must have a strong willand enough patience, Recember“Rome was not built in a day!”

That’s all .thank you for your time.

  trust and love

  good evening, everyone!

throughout my years of being a student, i’ve had many teachers. none of them are the same, but the one that i’ll never forget and will always miss is my chinese bilingual teacher in the middle school i attended in seattle, ms. ho. she was a skinny, but stylish lady in her 50s. she was different from all the other teachers because she gave me something unforgettable.

ms. ho and i became friends right in the first semester i was in that middle school. at the same time, i was having a really hard time with my subjects. since i had just transferred from a bilingual school, where i had stayed for two months after arriving in the us, my english was horrible; my average grade was below c. i almost thought it impossible to learn english. then, one day she told me she strongly believed that i was capable of controlling my life, and i would be just fine. she said that she found we were much alike: both were stubborn, kind-hearted and a little bit simple-minded. she believed that i had the quality of becoming wise. she even said that she didn’t have any worries about me, about my not learning english. with her encouragement, i found the strength within myself and began to desire to work even harder. as a result, i soon proved her right, and at the end of the semester, i got a 3.8 average grade.

today, i still keep in touch with her, and she still tells me how she believes in me. sometimes, i’d think back, and wonder how i could handle all those things if it wasn’t for her encouragement and trust. could i be the person i am today? then, it struck me: what we need has always been trust and love of others; because these things inspire us to do our best, and to live our life to its fullest.

to sum up, i’d like to say to all of you: let us all appreciate trust and love of others and achieve our full potential in our life!
