2015年3月28日下午4點，國際奧委會評估團在北辰洲際酒店舉辦新聞釋出會，國際奧委會委員、評估委員會主席亞歷山大·茹科夫，奧運會執行主席克里斯托弗·杜比出席了釋出會。

2015年7月31日17時57分，國際奧委會第128次全會在吉隆坡舉行，投票選出2022年冬奧會舉辦城市，經過85位國際奧委會委員的投票，北京以44-40擊敗對手阿拉木圖，贏得2022年第二十四屆冬季奧林匹克運動會的舉辦權。時任北京市市長王安順，中國奧委會主席、國家體育總局局長劉鵬、張家口市市長侯亮與國際奧委會主席巴赫簽訂了《主辦城市合同》。
