　　作者在後序中說，“我和主人公一起生活。每天從早到晚，又夜以繼日。我為他們的歡樂而歡樂，為他們的痛苦而痛苦。我已經捨不得和我的人物分開。當我把他們一個一個地送離人間的時候，我被生死離別折磨得痛徹肺腑。”然而故事中的`人，還是要離開，一個又一個，排著隊似的，不緊不慢地離開。悲劇故事都不可避免的如此。

　　印象最深的是，韓子奇身處英國倫敦時給家裡寄去的那封信。說是一封信，卻也只是簡單的一句話——“我們還活著。你們還活著嗎?”還活著嗎……在那樣一個戰爭動亂年間，信竟然是這樣寫的，如此的問候，我心裡一陣淒涼，一滴眼淚往下落。
