Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Jenny. Jenny and her family lived on a farm.

Jenny liked to play with the animals on the farm. Her parents raised cows, chickens and pigs. Jenny also had a brother and his name was Jason. She liked to play with Jason also, but he was much older than her. He preferred to play with his friends. Since Jason was old enough to ride a bike, he was old enough to leave the farm yard.

Jason would bike over to the neighboring farms and play with other boys who were his age.

Jenny couldn’t wait until she was old enough to go to school. She knew that she xiaogushi8 would find other girls to be friends with once she could get on the bus to go into the city for school each day. When Jenny turned five years old, she started going to school. She was having difficulties making friends though. It seemed she didn’t have anything in common with the other little girls her age. Fortunately, Jenny came from a loving family. Her mother and father would tuck her in each night at bedtime and each of them would give her a kiss.

They promised her that she would soon find something that she had in common with the other girls on the bus.

One day, Jenny came home from school. Instead of being melancholy, she was happy and excited. Her parents asked her about it. Jenny explained to them that she had found something that she had in common with the other girls on the bus. She was finally starting to make friends with them.

“What do you have in common with the other girls, Jenny?” her dad asked. “I have a boyfriend,” Jenny said. Her parents were concerned. “Do you know what a boyfriend is, Jenny?” her mom asked.

“I heard the other girls talking about wanting to be older so they could have boyfriends. I asked xiaogushi8 my teacher Mrs. Smith what a boyfriend was. She said it’s a boy who kisses you. So I told the girls on the bus on the way home that I had a boyfriend already. Now they all are jealous of me and want to be my friend.” Now Jenny’s parents were worried. “What boy is kissing you? Who is this boyfriend of yours?” Jenny’s mom asked her. “Why, it’s xiaogushi8 Daddy,” Jenny said. “He kisses me goodnight. That makes him my boyfriend,” she said. “Come to think of it, Mommy kisses me goodnight, too, so I guess that makes you my girlfriend. Wait until the girls on the bus hear I have a boyfriend and a girlfriend, too!”

“Daddy, can I learn to play the violin?” young Sarah asked her father. She was always asking for things and her father was not very pleased.

“You cost me a lot of money, Sarah,” he said.“First you wanted Io learn horse riding, then dancing, then swimming. Now it’s the violin.”

“I’ll play every day. Daddy.” Sarah said, “I’ll try very hard.”

“All fight,” her father said. “This is what I’ll do. I’ll pay for you to have xiaogushi8 lessons for six weeks. At the end of six weeks you must play something for me. If you play well, you can have more lessons. If you play badly, I will stop the lessons.”

“OK. Daddy,” Sarah said, “That is fair.”

He soon found a good violin teacher and Sarah began her lessons. The teacher was very expensive, but her father kept his promise.

The six weeks passed quickly. The time came for Sarah to play for her father.

She went to the living room and said. “I’m ready to play for you, Daddy.”

“Fine, Sarah,” her father said, “Begin.”

She began to play. She played very badly. She made a terrible noise.

Her father had one of his friends with him, and the friend put his hands over his ears.

When Sarah finished, her father said, “Well done, Sarah. You can have more lessons.” Sarah ran happily out of the room. Her father’s friend turned to him. “You’ve spent a lot of money, but she still plays very badly.” he said.

“Well, that’s true,” her father said, “But since she started learning the violin I’ve been able to buy five xiaogushi8 apartments in this building very cheaply. In another six weeks I’ll own the whole building!”

The man in the prison asked a new comer why he was sent there.

The new comer answered:“I am out of luck, I think. A few days xiaogushi8 ago I was walking in the street when I saw a piece of dirty rope. I thought nobody wanted it and so I picked it up and took it home.”

“But it is not against the law to pick up a piece of rope and take home!”

“I told you I had bad luck, didn’t I?” the man sighed,“The trouble is that I didn’t notice there was an ox at the other end of that rope.”
