一：用介詞短語替代從句，例：
原句：While they were playing tennis， she started an argument that lasted all morning.
修改後：During tennis she started an argument that lasted all morning. 原句：When you come to the second traffic light， turn right. 修改後：At the second traffic light turn left.
二：刪除諸如"who is"或"that is"之類的關係代詞，變從句為短語，例：
句：The novel， which is written in three parts， told a story that took place in the Middle Ages.
修改後：The three-part novel told a story set in the Middle Ages.
注：把句中的"three parts"改用形容詞來表達，節省了四個不必要的單詞"which is written in"。我們經常可以將關係代詞如"that"去掉，這隻會引起最少的變動。
三：剔除你不需要的單詞，例：
Two joint partners will present their views over a long-distance telephone call. 寫完這樣的句子後，你自己再讀一遍，挑出單詞"joint"和"telephone"，注意刪去不必要的詞。
小升初英語作文寫作注意事項
一、構思、準備不充分，匆忙下筆
任何一篇作文出題都是有它獨特的道理的，所以提前審題和構思就顯得必不可少了。很多孩子目前存在一個情況，想到哪寫到哪，有記流水帳的習慣;這也造成了作文雜亂無章，毫無條理，同時容易出現寫錯單詞和用錯句型的情況。
針對這種情況可以從以下幾個方面予以解決：
1、認真審題，審題的重點放在寫作體裁、格式、字數方面，確保第一遍審題就能保證得到基本分。
2、確定文體和時態，因為不同的文體要求的寫作格式也是不同的。
3、列提綱，打草稿，然後修改。這樣可以保證錯誤降低至最少或者沒有錯誤，同時也能保持卷面整潔。
二、中心重點不突出，切題不準確
英語寫作不是語文散文***形散神不散***，寫英語作文，尤其是在中考大壓力下短時內寫出高分作文一定要注意這一點。造成這種情況的主要原因是動筆前並沒有認真審題和思考，對出題者希望得到的預期尚未揣摩透徹，這也就造成了一些同學雖然語言功底非常不錯，但是最終的結果還是沒有拿到一個自己預期的心理分數，最大的問題就出在切題不準確或者不夠突出中心上了。
三、忽視文化差異

四、忽視細節，無謂失分
