It was last Tuesday when my elder brother and I went to the cinema by motorbike. My brother was riding with me seated on the seat behind. As we came to the crossroads a young man and a young girl came up and waved us to stop. "We've found you at last,"they said in an impatient but friendly way,but we were at a loss because we were not familiar with them at all. Pointing to a policeman not far away, the young man made an explanation to us, "I was he who stopped us about an hour ago. He said we couldn't leave here until we caught the next offender***違章者*** as we broke the traffic regulations.

So come on,stand here. Hope you don't have to wait so long as we did. Good luck. " With these words, they left the crossroads in a hurry, leaving us still puzzled.

We are going to hold a birthday celebration at 3 o’clock in the Golden Star Hotel for our beloved physics professor, who has just come back from France. We would like to invite you to be present at the party. Now I’d like to tell you how to come to this hotel. First of all,you can take Bus No. 101. After two stops, you may get off at the Jinshan Road stop. Walk forward and turn left at the first crossing. Then walk along the street about two hundred meters, and you'll see the Golden Star Hotel on your right. Go into the hotel and register your name on the front reception desk. After that you can go directly to Room 203. Surely, you will have no trouble finding the room. We will be expecting you there.

As can be seen from the chart, changes have taken place in English materials purchase made by the senior students in our school in the early 1990s and in 2003. In 2003,there are more new choices for students, like Internet ***10%*** and DC/DVD***30%***. In the early 1990s there were only tapes ***33%*** and reference books ***67%***. At the same time, the average expense on English materials has increased from 60 yuan in the early 1990s to 170 yuan in 2003. From these,we know that there are more choices of materials on English learning and students spend more money on them.

There are several main reasons for this change. For one thing, many students realize the importance of learning English. English is widely used all over the world. Second, with the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games approaching, learning English has become more popular. In addition,as science and technology have been developing so fast, the latest English learning facilities have already been proved far more useful and effective than traditional books.

Is It the Only Way out to Go to College?

We had a heated discussion about whether it is the only way out for senior students to go to college. Views vary among the students.

The majority of students consider it necessary to go to college, thinking that it can widen their knowledge and improve their comprehensive qualities. Only in this way can they find better jobs after graduation. Very few students think it unnecessary to go to university, because the tuition is too much for their families to afford. What’s more,it's rather hard for university graduates to find satisfactory jobs. Thirty per cent of the students, however, believe “All roads lead to Rome. ” Therefore,it doesn't make any difference whether they go to college or not..

So far as I am concerned,we can receive a better education at university so that we can serve our motherland better.

  Children Want Their Schoolbag Lighter

From the picture we can see that a girl is wearing a pair of glasses and carrying a big, heavy schoolbag. A fat woman is taking some exercise. The girl is saying to the woman,"If you carry the schoolbag for me,I’m sure you will lose some weight.."

Something occurs to me. It is quite common that Chinese students are overburdened with the lessons and homework their teachers give them to do. What they do every day is to listen to the teachers' lectures, take notes and do their homework which seems to be endless.

In my opinion, teachers should help the students get more knowledge with fewer lectures, exercises and less homework. Only in this way will students have spare time to do more physical exercise to make them stronger, and to take part in some social activities to make them mentally and physically healthier.
