  推薦信的寫作要求

  在國內願意親自給別人寫推薦信的人很少,一般是些德高望重的老教授或者從國外留學歸來的年輕老師。所以大部分中國申請者都是自己以推薦人的口氣用英文把推薦信寫好,然後再請推薦人簽字。在這種情況下,最好先用漢語打個草稿讓推薦人看過以後,如果推薦人同意再翻譯成英文形式。

  所以說確定了推薦人之後,在寫推薦信前應該先仔細斟酌一下應該著重表現哪些方面。如果僅僅從網上搜索模板,修改一下的話,那樣就會發現基本上所有中國學生的推薦信是千篇一律的,這樣並不能給學校的評審委員留下印象,也就沒有起到應有的作用,所以推薦信種有一個主要的閃光點是非常重要的。

  對於推薦信的內容應該寫得具體一些還是較為籠統這個問題,在我看來,級別較高得推薦人寫的推薦信不能太具體,因為在社會地位較高的人工作上比較繁忙,如果寫的過於具體,反而會對推薦信的可信度大打折扣。不過如果推薦人跟申請人關係比較熟悉,就可以寫的相對具體一點。並且可以用一些比較具體的事例來作為他推薦你的理由,因為一封推薦信如果僅僅有讚美之詞,可是沒有事例作為佐證的話,那就會顯得較為空洞,也不能增加錄取委員會對你的任何瞭解。同時為了增加推薦信的真實性,也可以少寫一些並不是很重要但是很中肯的小缺點,其實從另一方面來看,這樣不失為一種聰明的策略。

  對於申請人來說,要用三種不同的口吻推薦自己,所以要注意以下幾點:①客觀評價自己的成就,避免讚美過度。推薦信應該表明推薦人對於申請者的動機是有一定了解的,並能解釋申請者進一步深造的需求。②列舉出具體的事例,避免表達意思太泛泛。推薦信中對於申請者的重要素質和能力要求有事例的支援,作為你的教授或者老闆,舉出你在工作和學習中的具體表現應該也是非常容易的。③轉換語言風格和思維角度,這樣可以增加推薦信的可信度。對於一些重要的成就和優點進行描述時,應該從推薦人的角度出發,還有就是語言風格上、用詞上要注意變換,避免出現自己在自述信中常用的詞語和語氣,避免三封推薦信出現雷同。④要避免語法、拼寫、還有一些明顯的用詞錯誤。如果推薦信中出現錯誤,這對推薦信的作用也是有影響的。⑤推薦信切忌寫的過長,一般來說500英文以內比較合適

  推薦信的結構

  推薦信的結構形式是比較統一的,尤其是開頭和結尾兩段大概表現的意思基本上是一樣的。①第一段首先應該介紹一下推薦人與申請人的關係,在什麼情況下認識,相識多久;並且應該明確在第一段中表現出推薦人非常願意推薦申請人到這個學校就讀。②一般第二段就是推薦人對申請人的評估情況,也可以表現一下推薦人為何對申請人印象深刻,然後舉例證實一下推薦人對於申請人的評估結構。如果所表達的東西比較多,這一部分也可以分為兩段來寫。③第三段內容主要是對申請人特質的一些概括,或者是推薦人認為申請人在這個專業以後的發展潛力做一下描述,還可寫一些對學校評審委員的感謝之類的話。
