英語學習閱讀文章

  閱讀能力在英語的聽說讀寫譯五項基本技能中的重要性不言而喻,下面就是小編給大家整理的,希望大家喜歡。

  :調整心態去擁抱每一天

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say, or do.

It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.

We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes.

  :微笑的妙處

Smile at each other, smile at your wife, smile at your husband, smile at your children, smile at each other. It doesn't matter who it is, and that will help you to grow up in greater love for each other.

Many Americans are familiar with The Little Prince, a wonderful book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. This is a whimsical***古怪的*** and fabulous***難以置信的*** book and works as a children's story as well as a thought-provoking adult fable. Far fewer are aware of Saint-Exupery's other writings, novels and short stories.

The smile, the unaffected, unplanned, natural connection between people. I tell this story in my work because I'd like people to consider that underneath all the layers we construct to protect ourselves, our dignity, our titles, our degrees, our status and our need to be seen in certain ways―underneath all that, remains the authentic, essential self. I'm not afraid to call it the soul. I really believe that if that part of you and that part of me could recognize each other, we wouldn't be enemies. We couldn't have hate or envy or fear. I sadly conclude that all those other layers, which we so carefully construct through our lives, distance and insulate us from truly contacting others.

I've had just a few moments like that. Falling in love is one example. And looking at a baby. Why do we smile when we see a baby? Perhaps it's because we see someone without all the defensive layers, someone whose smile for us we know to be fully genuine and without guile. And that baby-soul inside us smiles wistfully in recognition.

  :Freeze the Design

Perfectionists***完美主義者*** can waste just as much time as procrastinators***拖拉者*** . Thomas R. Williams, former chairman of Wachovia Corporation, discovered that many young people in banking don't know when to stop researching a project and start wrapping it up. Those trainees could have learned something from engineers, who are taught to produce the best possible solution by a certain date. Even if a design is not perfect, they've done the best they could under deadline.

Whenever you streamline a task or eliminate a hassle, you don't just save time. You make your life more pleasant. "Dost thou love life?" Benjamin Franklin once said. "Then do not squander time, for that's the stuff life is made of."
